Our client is a growing Australian renewable energy platform focused on building a scalable portfolio of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to support the country’s energy transition. The business is delivering large-scale projects, including some of the nation’s most significant grid-scale storage assets, and is pioneering innovative community and equity partnership models.
The Role
Reporting to the Investment team, the Investment Associate will provide critical support across financial modelling, project finance, investment analysis, and capital raising initiatives. This role offers exposure to the full investment lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from modelling and due diligence to construction oversight and portfolio monitoring.
You will work closely with senior leadership on investment and financing activities, contribute to strategic initiatives, and engage with investors and lenders to help drive the growth of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Build financial models for internally developed BESS projects and portfolio/platform transactions, including equity and mezzanine structures.
- Support project finance transactions, lender cases, due diligence, structuring, and preparation of investment committee and Board papers.
- Prepare investor-facing materials (teasers, IMs, pitch decks), evaluate financing options, and maintain relationships with banks, investors, and advisors.
- Analyse M&A opportunities, partnerships, alternative growth options, and contribute to platform funding strategies and investment frameworks.
- Support implementation of stage-gate processes and strategic initiatives across the platform.
- Monitor portfolio and construction-stage asset performance, risks, and budgets.
- Assist with project acquisitions, joint development agreements, government offtake tenders, and revenue mechanism analysis.
Ideal Candidate
- 3-6 years’ experience in investment banking, infrastructure funds, project finance, corporate finance, or consulting.
- Strong financial modelling and transaction execution experience.
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
- Understanding of BESS or energy infrastructure markets.
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative with a long-term outlook.
